Thank you! Over on the Arabic-language side, we have perhaps too many academics obsessed with specific meanings and history and cultural context (I mean, sure, all lovely things), but what about a love of language, and of books?

Thanks for the comment. I noticed Dover was putting out some of them. I'm looking forward to getting a couple of them and seeing how the stories read.

Thanks for the review of my book and I'm glad that you enjoy these powerful woodcut novels. Many of these books are now coming back into print. Dover, for example, has published Ward, Nuckel, and Masereel's wordless books and is coming out with the last two wordless books by Ward later this Spring. I've written introductions to many of these reprinted editions, which I hope you also enjoy. Again, thanks for spreading the word about these great books!

Sure, why not. Which is not to say that Mardy is the best show/ movie ever. It is emblematic of mid century realism that tried to reflect the common man, the working man and as a piece of history, a reflection of the culture it is worth watching. Is it dated in places? Yes, but the mechanics of the writing show quite a bit of craft. I'm probably not going to be searching out the Movie with Borgnine, but watching the TV show was a good experience. What one should really questions is No Time For Sargents.
